Better UV print quality, reduced waste and makeready times with DuPont’s Cyrel® FAST DFUV flexographic plates.
The German manufacturer Aleithe Haftetiketten GmbH (focused on high-quality, customized tags, labels and flexible packaging products) recently completed a successful conversion to new DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST DFUV flexographic printing plates, designed for superior output when used with ultraviolet (UV) curable inks. The advantages attained? The new plates have improved solid ink density, with drastic reductions in waste and startup time because the prints came up to color almost immediately. As well as further optimising the production process the conversion to Cyrel® DFUV was a success for many reasons.
Aleithe (already a DuPont technology user) did not have to change the setting of its Cyrel® FAST equipment, which eliminated the need to readjust settings, and retrain both primary and back-up personnel in the plate processing department.
The chosen test job was challenging, with a difficult design printed on PP. Aleithe was very pleased with the immediate results they observed in terms of ink transfer, coverage, and low graininess, all to the advantage of the end quality of the product.
Finally, the plates do not pick up the ink and the dust in a way that requires frequent cleaning during the set up phase or during the print process,
Info on the product. The new Cyrel® DFUV plate was developed specifically for narrow web printers who need a high-performance flexographic printing plate for use with UV inks. It is a thermal process plate that comes to color quickly and prints smooth and dense solids, without compromising dot gain, highlights and resolution. It is specifically designed for shorter print runs using UV inks on high priced stock (including pressure sensitive and self-adhesive labels, shrink wrap and wrap around labels, tickets, tags and boards) and for very fine screens.
Using the DuPont™ Cyrel® FAST DFUV flexographic printing plates, Aleithe was able to achieve significant productivity and quality benefits.
