Aldus Pty Limited has taken over the activities of API Foils Europe (with the exception of the Dutch and Asian subsidiaries) creating a new company, called API Foilmakers Limited. Aldus is an Australian company operating in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and the United States. The Aldus Group was already the owner of another international foil manufacturing company, Milford Astor Foilmakers.
The new company will be headed by Will Oldham, former managing director of API Foils from 2012 to 2015, and by the main members of the current senior management team. Will Oldham comments on the birth of the new company: “I am delighted to be back at the helm of API’s activities in Europe, a company already at the forefront for years in the foil market for hot stamping in the graphic arts. Joining the Aldus Group will provide our team with the financial strength and support needed to ensure the continuity of our work: to provide the highest quality products to customers in Europe and worldwide. We are particularly happy to restart the Scottish plant in Livingston and to guarantee continuity in the operations of the distribution centers in Europe, thus securing 160 jobs, of which more than 100 in Scotland alone “.
Frank Floriano, CEO of Aldus added: “API has been for a long time the market leader for high quality ennobling foils and we are proud to have acquired the business. Our commitment is aimed at ensuring financial resources and all the support so that API can, first of all, continue to provide excellent quality products to the market and, secondly, to maintain the right level of investment in research and development for the creation of new products for the future “.
Riccardo Sottocorno, South West Europe Head of Sales and Distribution, comments: “We are delighted to be operational again. I would first like to thank our customers for supporting our teams over the past few weeks and also those who have helped us throughout the acquisition process. This support gave us confirmation that the market recognizes API as a special company. We are trying to bring the Livingston plant back to nominal production levels in the shortest possible time. However, it will take some time to return to producing the entire range of hot stamping products. The market will be constantly updated on developments and we will work to resolve any jams that may occur during the start of the processes”.
