Converting magazine 4/2024 is all about flexography, with in-depth articles, interviews and exclusive investigations. And a significant handover.

For the director of technical magazines (my first editorial dates back to a little over 31 years ago in the magazine Acquistare&Vendere Informatica) the handover between editors-in-chief is not an unusual thing. The world of newspapers normally sees movements and changes. I have also experienced them for other newspapers of the group, but Converting has its own history linked not so much to the publisher (changed over time), but to the person who over time has made it grow, change according to the needs of the moment and the logic of the market.

You would therefore think that the relationship between the newspaper and this person could be indissoluble and overcome the challenges of the passing of time. But time passes and it is right that those who have given so much through their commendable work to this newspaper can have a little more time for themselves. So with this issue a handover is completed. Already in the last two issues you have been able to find out who will be in charge of the editorial coordination of Converting. And I am very happy that Raffaele Angelillo can continue to count on the experience, ability, empathy, enthusiasm of Elena who will still be close to all of you and to us of the editorial staff to continue, as she says, to ‘learn the many beautiful things that happen in this fascinating sector’. An asset for us and, I am sure, also for you.

Welcome Raffaele and welcome back Elena.

Every company has its own soul, made up of history, choices, technical skills and people. Every technology has its original intuitions, its developments, the pros and cons, and the ever-changing questions to answer. Every outlet market has its own peculiar logic and its own life that is intertwined with that of the economy of the country and the larger world in which it operates. Providing information means working to understand all this (it never ends!) and to tell readers about it clearly, on all channels, analog and digital, available.

It is a beautiful job, which requires great dedication and great responsibility, and which I will not stop doing even now, as a freelancer and with gray hair. Thank you Enrico Barboglio (and all of you colleagues at Converting!) who – within the framework designed by the publisher – allowed me to work and experiment as best I could. For having tolerated me when we did not agree – which is far from a given – and now for asking me to continue collaborating, to provide content on this sector that I love so much.

I am particularly happy to pass the helm to Raffaele Angelillo, a young, digital, competent and enthusiastic colleague. He brings new skills and ideas, his sensitivity and imagination, his idea of effective communication: it will be nice and interesting to work together!
